About Us

Our Story

We didn’t start with a product.
We started with a question.

What if the supplements we recommend to our patients were built to the same standards we expect from pharmaceuticals?

The Beginning

A conversation that changed everything

In the spring of 2021, three colleagues sat together at a medical conference in Zurich. The conversation wasn’t part of the official agenda. It was personal.

Dr. Adrian Voss — a clinical gerontologist who spent 14 years researching cellular senescence at ETH Zurich and later at King’s College London — had just turned 47. For the first time, the science he dedicated his life to felt deeply personal. His father had recently been diagnosed with early-onset Alzheimer’s disease. His mother, still mentally sharp at 74, was taking seventeen different supplements every morning — most of them underdosed, poorly absorbed, and built around marketing rather than evidence.

“I looked at my mother’s countertop and realized something disturbing. I had spent my career studying the mechanisms of aging, yet I couldn’t recommend a single consumer product that met the standards I’d expect from a clinical intervention.”

Beside him sat Dr. Elena Marin, a molecular biologist from the University of Bucharest whose postdoctoral work focused on NAD+ metabolism and mitochondrial biogenesis at Karolinska Institutet in Stockholm. After years consulting for pharmaceutical companies on peptide delivery systems, she knew exactly what worked at the cellular level — and how far behind the supplement industry truly was.

The third person at the table was Andrei Dumitrescu — not a scientist, but a builder. A former biotech operations executive who had scaled two health-tech companies across Europe before experiencing burnout at 42. During his recovery, he became immersed in longevity science, experimenting with fasting protocols, tracking biomarkers, and reading every study Adrian and Elena published. He understood how to translate complex research into products real people would actually use consistently.

That evening in Zurich, during a conversation that stretched long past midnight, the outline of BE1 Labs was sketched on the back of a conference program.

Andrei Dumitrescu

Co-Founder & CEO

Former biotech operations executive with a background in biomedical engineering and health-tech scaling across Central and Western Europe. His personal health crisis became the catalyst for creating BE1 Labs.

  • MBA — INSEAD
  • Biomedical Engineering — Politehnica Bucharest
  • Founder of 2 Health-Tech Ventures

The Problem

An industry built on “fairy dust” dosing

Before BE1 Labs existed, the founders spent six months auditing the supplement industry. What they discovered was worse than expected.

Many longevity supplements used ingredients supported by legitimate research — NMN, resveratrol, quercetin, spermidine — but at doses far below those used in clinical studies. Inside the industry, this practice even had a name: “fairy dust dosing.” Just enough ingredient to place on the label, but nowhere near enough to create a meaningful biological effect.

Independent laboratory testing of 23 leading products revealed serious inconsistencies:

  • Several products contained ingredient amounts that differed significantly from label claims
  • Many used poorly absorbed forms with known bioavailability limitations
  • Very few matched the doses used in the studies referenced in their own marketing

The founders also noticed another uncomfortable reality: many supplement companies invested more into packaging and influencer campaigns than scientific formulation and testing.

“The gap between what longevity science knows and what the supplement industry sells is not a gap. It’s a canyon.”
— Dr. Elena Marin

Our Approach

Pharmaceutical rigor. Consumer simplicity.

BE1 Labs was built around a simple principle:

Every formula must meet the same evidence standards we would expect from a clinical intervention.

That meant starting from zero.

  • No white-label products
  • No off-the-shelf formulas
  • No proprietary blends designed to hide weak dosing

Every ingredient was selected individually and every dose cross-referenced against published human clinical research — not animal studies or marketing trends.

The team spent 18 months in formulation and development before launching a single product. Third-party analytical laboratories in Germany and Switzerland were brought in to verify purity, potency, and stability for every batch produced.

Our Standards

  • 18 months in R&D before launch
  • 23 products audited before formulation began
  • 100% clinically referenced dosing
  • 0 proprietary blends

The Journey

From lab bench to daily ritual

2021 — The Zurich Conversation

Three colleagues identify the disconnect between longevity science and consumer supplements. BE1 Labs is conceived as a research-first company.

2022 — Research & Formulation

The team audits 23 leading products and confirms widespread underdosing across the industry. Development of BE1 Labs’ first formulas begins.

2023 — Scientific Advisory Board

A panel of researchers and clinicians from European institutions joins the company. Independent laboratory partnerships are established in Germany and Switzerland.

2024 — First Product Launch

BE1 Labs NMN Complex and BE1 Labs Daily Essentials launch direct-to-consumer with full batch testing and publicly available Certificates of Analysis.

2025 — Peptide Development

BE1 Labs expands into peptide formulations and begins observational partnerships with university research groups.

2026 — Raising the Standard

The company initiates its first proprietary clinical trial and expands across Europe and into the United States market.

Scientific Advisory Board

The minds behind the molecules

Every BE1 Labs formula is reviewed by researchers and clinicians who hold the company to scientific standards far beyond typical supplement industry practices.

Dr. Lukas Brenner — Epigenetics & Aging

Associate Professor at the University of Basel specializing in epigenetic clocks and biological age measurement.

Dr. Sofia Andersen — Mitochondrial Biology

Senior researcher at Karolinska Institutet focused on mitochondrial dysfunction and NAD+ precursor therapies.

Dr. Radu Petrescu — Peptide Therapeutics

Clinical pharmacologist specializing in peptide drug development and regulatory consulting.

Dr. Isabelle Moreau — Gut-Brain Axis

Director of Microbiome Research at INSERM Paris with extensive work in neurodegenerative aging and microbiome science.

Our Philosophy

What we believe

Aging is biology, not fate

The hallmarks of aging are measurable biological processes. They can be studied, tracked, and potentially influenced through evidence-based interventions.

Transparency is non-negotiable

Every ingredient, source, and dose is fully disclosed. No proprietary blends. No hidden formulas.

Clinical doses or nothing

If published human studies used specific doses to demonstrate measurable effects, those doses become the benchmark — not the marketing minimum.

Fewer products. Better science.

We believe in focused, deeply researched formulations rather than endless product catalogs. Every BE1 Labs formula undergoes extensive development before launch.

“We don’t compete on price. We don’t compete on hype. We compete on the only thing that should matter — whether the product actually works.”
— Andrei Dumitrescu
